To make the hike equally attractive for parents, a few metres of elevation gain and a beautiful landscape or view are essential. After all, everyone should have fun and family time is there to be enjoyed together. We’ve tested many hikes with kids and present our favourite tours in this article! Whether you want to gain your first hiking experience with your kids or have mountain boots as part of your weekend equipment, there is something suitable for every level.

If there’s one hut that really won our hearts with its mountain hut charm, it’s the Frasdorfer Hütte! Read on to find out why you should definitely stop by the parlour of the Frasdorfer Hütte on a hike with children around Munich. No matter the season, a visit to the Frasdorfer Hütte is always a delight. It’s worth allowing at least an hour for the ascent from the Lederstuben car park with kids. Because nature is the perfect playground along the way. The forest and the small streams are also great for kids – they’re really exciting and magical. The hut is almost 1000 metres up and is nestled between meadows. It’s been extensively renovated and now has friendly, harmonious colours. Hiking with kids in the footsteps of the Ice Age in the Maising Gorge on Lake Starnberg

The Maisinger Schlucht in the Fünf-Seen-Land region in the centre of Upper Bavaria was formed during the last ice age. The gentle hike with kids through the gorge in the Munich region offers a great range of experiences for kids and is definitely not boring. The family hike is therefore also suitable for children who are new to hiking. There’s a lovely inn with Kaiserschmarrn pancakes and a playground halfway through.

Family hike around the picturesque Eibsee!

With the Zugspitze and a great mountain panorama in view as well as the turquoise-blue water, holiday feelings directly arise at the Eibsee. It is not for nothing that the Eibsee is also called the Maldives of Bavaria. The hike with children around the Eibsee is best started from the parking lot of the Zugspitze cable car. From there it goes the signs to the lake, where the tour begins. Many travel guides recommend running around the lake counterclockwise, as the view of the Zugspitze is particularly magnificent. We chose the other direction in order to be able to hike for a long time in the warming midday sun. Almost the entire route you have the highest mountain in Germany in view. No matter which side you start from, this tour counts as a highlight among the hikes with children around Munich.

Hike to the Feldlahnalm in Chiemgauer Land with children!

Past waterfalls to the hut paradise for children! The ascent to the Feldlahnalm with children is certainly not boring. The entire route runs along the Hammergraben. This means continuous water noise and cheerful babbling in the ears. The hammer ditch arouses a lot of interest among the children. At the small waterfalls the water only bubbles like that, elsewhere you can descend and splash in the water with your hands or even climb a piece on the big stones in the stream. Variety to keep the little hikers happy is definitely offered.

Käseralm – As made for first hiking experiences with children!

The Ascent to the Käser Alm is particularly good to make young children want to go mountain hiking. On the way you meet cows and can also watch the mountain bikers who dare to try themselves in the Bike Park on Samerberg. To the delight of the children, of course, who like to watch them jump. Once at the top, the family-run Käser Alm awaits its visitors with savoury Bavarian dishes and snacks. It can be endured on the sun terrace. The children who bring down completely new energy reserves on the large nature playground are well in view from there.

Hike with children in the Munich area on Lake Tegernsee with a gigantic panoramic view!

Your kids and you are already used to one or the other hike and the travel of altitude metres is easily off your feet? Then be sure to tackle the family-friendly hiking trail from Gmund am Tegernsee to Gasthof Neureuth or to Gindlalm. The ascent is about 5 km long and lasts 2 hours. For us, the hiking is one of our favourite tours, because the view and the panorama of Lake Tegernsee, with which you are rewarded , is simply terrific. The hike starts at the Hiking parking lot Gasse. From there, you can also simply stick to the signs for Neureuth and Gindlalm. The climb goes well uphill and it needs perseverance. Our trick for the hike with children around Munich, with friends it is much easier.

The best destination for hiking with children above the Schliersee!

The hikes with children in Bavaria at the Schliersee are absolutely child-friendly. The path only runs along the road at the lower part and after a maximum running time of 30 minutes you are already at your destination. The Schliersbergalm is the ideal driver. Once at the top, there is the purest Eldorado for kids. Not only does the Schliersbergalm have a great playground on the edge of the forest, where the slide between the trees goes along. But there are several large children’s trampolines with a magnificent panorama over the Schliersee. In addition, there is the Alpenexpress. It is great fun, especially for the children. With him, it goes up and down over the hilly terrain in front of the Schliersbergalm. Going to the summer toboggan run is very different. The adults are also getting more moving. The children can ride in combination with an adult, great fun for everyone in the family! And the descent was also saved right away!

Breathtaking hikes with children around Munich through the Partnachklamm!

A good hour from Munich, in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, you will find the famous Partnachklamm a highlight of the tours for hiking with children in Bavaria. Children love this adventure route through the canyons. Since you cannot park directly at the Partnachklamm, it is best to choose the parking lot at the Olympic ski station and start running from there. With children, depending on the speed, it takes 30 to 50 minutes to the entrance of the Partnachklamm. There is also the possibility to put the piece back with a horse-drawn carriage. Prams cannot be taken into the gorge, so a carrying strap or a Kraxe is very good for the little ones. You can easily park the stroller at the cash register and then collect it again on the way back.

Rundwanderung around the Spitzingsee – the right thing for young mountaineers!

The Lake tour around the Spitzingsee in the Mangfallgebirge is exactly the right route for families who would like to go hiking with children in the Munich area and altitude metres do not play a role for the time being, but the view. The tour is about 3 km long and small or extended breaks are part of it, because there is a lot to discover on the way. During the entire hike, you can admire the magnificent view of the beautiful Spitzingsee with the mountains in the background. For the children, the water is attractive. In summer, tired mountaineers’ feet cool down in the refreshing mountain lake. Before or after the Tour around the Spitzingsee, we prefer to return to the year-round Albert-Link-Hütte. There is typical Bavarian food and a large playground for kids. The hut also has its own bread manufactory, where it is traditionally baked in a wood oven. You can take a fresh loaf with you in the farm shop. For this, you should definitely plan space in the backpack.

Natural spectacle on the way to the Alm Siebenhütten!

The short but beautiful hiking trail to the Alm Siebenhütten is ideal for a family hike. From the parking lot, follow the signs Siebenhütten. It goes over bridges, past forests and always along the river Hofbauernweissachbach. The children can always climb down to the river on small paths during the hike. This is exactly the kind of variety and entertainment that ensues children to persevere on the hike. After about 1 hour (with plenty of breaks on the water) you reach the Almwirtschaft Siebenhütten. There are simple Bavarian food and cakes. Of course, the coffee from the Dinzler should not be missing either. On the way back, a short stop at the ducal trout farming is part of it. Here you can still stock up on fresh dinner.

Spring hike to the Krokuswiese am Heuberg with the whole family

At the Hike from the Duftbräu to the Daffnerwaldalmen am Heuberg, spring feelings arise when the crocus meadow blooms above. Those who weigh the short ascent to the alpine minds will be received at the top by the famous crocodile meadow in the Chiemgauer Land. The Duftbräu car park is recommended as a starting point. The hike (just follow the signs from the Rundweg 40) first leads along the Duftbräu waterfalls After 20 minutes you already reach the first play attraction for the children. A large meadow with stream is made for the first break. The following part of the hike is a little more varied with changing gradients and runs mainly through the forest. About tree roots and protruding stones, a lot of climbing skills are required from the little ones, but there is also a lot of incentive. A wonderful tour for hiking with children around Munich to welcome the first spring messengers after the cold season.
