A FAMILY DAY SALZBURG WITH CHILDREN

Our favorite day in Salzburg with the whole family

Salzburg is known as the birthplace of Mozart and for the Salzburg Festivals. The charm of the historic center with its narrow streets, traditional coffee houses, handsome castles and panoramic Alps in the back enchants visitors.

Good news for families: Salzburg has a lot to offer for children of all ages!

Sightseeing in Salzburg with children

With a child-friendly destination, the Toy Museum, in mind we choose the way through the city center, past the birthplace of Mozart, the cathedral and the farmers market. Salzburg habitats meet on the market on Saturday morning. This is part of a well-spent Saturday. We continue our walk and land in the Toy Museum. What an experience! We dive into the world of toys, learn that the marble is the oldest toy in the world, and build together a wooden toy.

With an elevator we go up to Mönchsberg we go up to the mountain to admire the magnificent view over the city. A cozy coffee and a hot chocolate on the terrace of the restaurant M32, which is located in the House of Modernity and is directly accessible by elevator, belongs to it. We start walking towards Schloss Mönchstein and are surprised. The lively city life and the tranquility of nature are so close in Salzburg. The promenade is quiet and idyllic. On the way, we stop at the playground with a challenging climbing course.

Child-friendly Restaurants in Salzburg

Now we are hungry and go to the Mexican restaurant Die Cabreras. The children are welcome and the restaurant got a special toy box for them. The dishes at Die Cabreras taste like in Mexico, this is key for the restaurant. If you prefer to taste original Austrian cuisine, go to the restaurant Die Weisse. Now it’s the kids turn and together we visit Anni’s Small Heroes shop. Not only trendy children’s fashion is waiting there, but also a large selection of individual toys and accessories. Afterwards we walk into the park Mirabellgarten and visit the Zaubeflötenspielplatz.

Winter magic in Salzburg with children

While strolling through the Getreidegasse we feel the Christmas spirit all around. The winter and Christmas flair is something very special in Salzburg. All streets are decorated with festive trees and many lights. Christmas music is pouring out of the shops, the pastry shops have turned their shop windows into Christmas bakeries. Lovely decorated Christmas markets are everywhere in the city. It’s fun to peek into every alley and discover a hidden market behind it. Together with the old buildings and the mountains in the back, you can not help but completely forfeit the Christmas vibes.

In the Hotel Sacher Salzburg the obligatory Sachertorte is waiting. The children like the idea of a delicious chocolate cake and feel with the attentive service and painting things in the seventh

The most beautiful home in Salzburg for families

On the way back to the Hotel & Villa Auersperg, we take our time and visit the Christmas market on Mirabellplatz. When we arrive at the Boutique Hotel, we all long for some relaxation. While one parent recharges its batteries during a quiet visit to the sauna, which is beautifully located in the attic of the hotel, the children take a bath in the huge tube. Therefore, the hotel prepared a bathing salt with a wonderful scent of pine needles. Afterwards the children fall tired and happy into their beds. With a baby monitor, which we receive at the hotel reception, we end got the chance to have relaxed drinks at the hotel bar. We are all looking forward to the breakfast heaven waiting for us the next morning!

Bugaboo Bee5 – our travel buddy

Salzburg is a small city, where all favorite locations are reached by foot. As a reliable travel companion, the Bugaboo Bee5 accompanies us on our discovery tour through the city. With it, we are well prepared to take the city by storm! The Bugaboo Bee5 is folded easily in one-part takes up little space in the trunk and is a lightweight with 8.9 kg compared to other stroller. The children can rest their tired feet and the smallest in the league can hold the afternoon nap in comfortable sleeping position. The seat can be individually adjusted, both the backrest and the viewing direction. Smaller children can thus keep their parents in sight and slightly larger children can actively participate in the sightseeing with the forward facing seat. Thanks to the four-wheel suspension, you can move compact stroller easily through the streets, no matter if there are despite paving stones. That is why the Bugaboo Bee5 is an integral part of our loyal travel friend.

This post was created in cooperation with Bugaboo and the Hotel & Villa Auersperg. Thank you for this great opportunity and trust in us!
