A blast on four wheels from the summit to the valley!
If there’s one thing that immediately reminds our kids of their family vacation in Schladming am Dachstein, it’s the rapid descent on the mountain go-karts. Over a distance of 7 kilometer’s, you race with the go-karts from the summit of the Hochwurzen down to the valley and feel like a racer yourself. An excursion destination that you should not miss in any case. Kids from the age of 10 are allowed to drive themselves with the consent of their parents, all others ride on the second seat with their parents.
Buy your mountain go-kart tickets at the sports store at the Hochwurzen valley station and then take the gondola up the mountain for free with the practical summer ticket. First, everyone chooses a suitable helmet and gets a short briefing on the vehicle. On go, the somewhat different mountain descent starts.
Whether in the whirlwind or rather leisurely, you decide on your own speed. The most important thing for a safe descent, the brakes of the mountain go-karts work perfectly.
With a good wind and a big grin on our faces, the valley station comes into view after about 15 minutes. We couldn’t stop laughing and to this day we can’t agree on who let out the loudest whoop on the track, we had so much fun on the descent.
Extra tip: You could combine the downhill run with the mountain go-karts with a hike on the Hochwurzen via the Bankerlweg with a far-reaching view of the surrounding mountains. The circular route is nice and relaxed and you save the great adventure until the end. Those with sensitive eyes are well advised to wear sunglasses on the ride.
