Sometimes it just happens love at first sight! It happened to us on vacation in Andalusia with kids! You can expect an enchanting landscape, cities with history, relaxed happy people, restaurants with palate tickling, small fine stores with great local handicrafts and an incredibly warm nature towards kids. In terms of good vibes in family vacations Andalusia lands a full score.

Discover the beautiful Tarifa with kids

Tarifa is located at the southernmost point of Europe and is worth a visit to Andalusia with kids. The area around the city is a real surfer hotspot. Relaxed like the surfers are also Tarifa. But where do you go with a kid in Tarifa? The answer is: everywhere because kids are simply part of it no matter where! The advantages of the city and beach can be perfectly combined in Tarifa. Whale watching is especially good in Tarifa between April and October. For this, there is the possibility to make an excursion of about 2 hours by boat to observe the huge marine mammals at close range.

Child-friendly restaurants in Tarifa

  • A delicious and healthy breakfast awaits at Café Azul. There are even some toys on site for kids. It can get crowded quickly in the morning. So it’s worth getting there early!
  • The best tapas bars in Tarifa are El Lola and No 6 Cocina Sencilla. El Lola is always busy but is especially popular with families because the kids can play outside. Bar No 6 Cocina Sencilla is small and fine and offers creative tapas.
  • The Bar el Frances restaurant is our personal favorite in Andalusia with kids. Outside on the terrace is a wonderful place to enjoy a meal with kids. Local dishes are served.
  • Tarifa is known as a tuna paradise. The best tuna restaurant El Campero is located directly on the coast in the rather unattractive town of Barbate. It guarantees star level at civil prices.

Weather in Tarifa – it can be windy sometimes!

To be completely honest and transparent with you, wind in Tarifa (Levante) is also important. The wind that sweeps over the beach in Tarifa on some days (and sometimes several days in a row) makes a visit with kids at the sea difficult. For that, it is all the better to stay in accommodation with a pool. Windy days are best spent with a relaxing visit to the pool or you can take a long walk in the beautiful old town. The Beach Club Mandala is located directly on the beach and is protected from the wind by large glass windows.

Excursions in Andalusia with kids

Our secret tip is to spend a day in the town of Zahara de los Atunes. It is a good half-hour drive from Tarifa. In a small village next to Zahara you will find the Atlanterra Faro de Camarinal: a small lighthouse. To the left and right of it, there is a small bay with a fine sandy beach, which becomes especially important when visiting with kids. Building sandcastles is so much more fun!

The visit to the beach becomes something special with a horseback ride on the beach. You can organize the ride at Centro Hipico El Jobbah.

At sunset on the beach of Zahara, the successful day can be wonderfully concluded and enjoyed in the restaurant GREEN WHALE with suitable background music and subsequent applause with a delicious cocktail.
