The Fraganter Schutzhaus is a great destination for a family hike in Carinthia!
A wonderful family hike in Carinthia leads through the Hohe Tauern National Park via the former runway to the Fraganter Schutzhaus. The Fraganter Schutzhaus is a hut with old roots and a modern twist. The dining room has been modernly renovated and opens up a magnificent view of the mountains through the large panoramic window. There it does not even bother, should it rain in the evening. This gives a very special coziness! In good weather, you can sit wonderfully on the terrace. The children love to play in front of it on the thick stones on the lawn.
The cottage is specially designed for children. There are high chairs for the little ones, a diaper changing facility and who stays overnight with toddler, can even resort to the crib.
The food is excellent. With a bit of luck, local game is on the daily menu. The host knows how to turn it into a delicious dish. The hut experience becomes an adventure for the kids if you stay overnight. There are rooms of different sizes. If you book in advance, chances are you’ll get a room for yourself as a family. Sleeping in a bunk bed in a hut sleeping bag is an exciting experience for the kids.
Especially with younger children, it is a good idea to stay at the Fraganter Schutzhaus for two nights. This way you can use the first day for the ascent. On the second day, give your legs a breather and take a short tour with a stop at the Eggeralm. On the third day, everyone is fit again for the descent.
