A mountain experience where one play opportunity directly chases the next – panorama included!
There is one place that no vacationer in Schladming am Dachstein can get past: the Hopsiland on the Planai. One of the best, if not the best, circular hiking trails high up on the mountain for families. Hopsi, by the way, has been the World Cup mascot since 1982 and is the pride and joy of the region. He is at home on the Planai and shows the kids the world with great games and especially a lot of fun.
Is that what you’re in the mood for? Then board the gondola at the Planai Valley station. Have your Sommercard ready, which you get for free with every overnight stay because with it the ticket for the gondola ride is free.
Once you’ve reached the top, you can already guess that the 2-kilometer hike will certainly take a bit more time. Because there are countless playgrounds for the kids. If we may give you a tip, buy one of the wooden balls for the ball tracks right at the beginning. There are several ingenious descents spread out over the entire path. The kids enjoy this so much that they are usually already at the next station before their parents.
We don’t want to give too much away, but here are our highlights: The water world, where there’s even a small lake, is a true paradise. The kids can splash and splash for hours while we parents put our feet up on the wooden loungers next to it. Likewise, the new climbing course for little climbers is a real eye-catcher. It’s rare to find such a great mountain playground.
For refreshments, we can recommend Onkel Willy’s Hütte. We have already been there several times for lunch in winter and were thrilled by the delicious food. Be sure to check in advance if it is open. That is not always guaranteed in the summer. Alternatively, the Märchenwiesenhütte directly after the water playground is great.
