Over the border and back: Hiking in the Bregenzerwald with children!
Hiking in the Bregenzerwald with children including a great panorama and stroller-friendly path? For this we can recommend the Hochhäderich to you. It goes through a natural raised moor and even across the border to Germany and back. In winter it is worth bringing a sleigh or Zipfelbob, because in between there are always small descents for the kids.
You park at the Almhotel car park (parking fee 7 euros) and run directly into the nature reserve Kojental. First, it goes across the border to Germany. On the official sign for crossing the border, we came up with the funniest games. Or have you ever waved your brother across the border to another country or stood with one leg in Austria and with the other in Germany?
The family hike in the Bregenzerwald continues in the direction of Alpstüble Moos. You will meet the Alp-Erlebnis-Pfad at the wayside to draw water and walk barefoot. Back at the Almhotel you can pay a visit to the adventure playground in front of the door and enjoy the view of the mountains. By the way, you can redeem the 7 euros for the parking ticket in the restaurant of the Almhotel. Perfect while the kids vent off steam on the playground.
You can also ski on the Hochhäderich. The small ski area is made for a few ski swings with children. Especially for smaller children who can’t keep up on their skis all day yet, you can spend the day relaxed with all kinds of winter activities here. First a few swings on the skis, then we go for a round of hiking on the sleigh in the Bregenzerwald with the children. Afterwards, you can strengthen yourself in an alpine hut before going back home or to the holiday accommodation. After that, there will be a refreshment in the alpine hut before going back home or to the holiday accommodation.
