If you are visiting Neuschwanstein Castle and are looking for an excursion destination in the Allgäu region with kids just around the corner, the Forest Experience Center, which is 4 kilometers away and located right on the border with Austria, is the perfect place.
The Forest Experience Center in Füssen is divided into three parts. First, there is the treetop path, which takes you on a spectacular view of the treetops over 450 meters. You can take a closer look at the surrounding mountains through binoculars.
Once you have reached the bottom, you continue along the Auenpfad. The trail awakens the spirit of discovery in every kid with water-related play elements along the way, such as rafts pulling across the river. The trail continues through the forest to the turquoise-blue Lech River. Why does the Lech have this color? You can find out at one of the playful information boards.
Somewhat quieter, but all the more magical for it, the mountain forest trail runs for 1.7 kilometers along winding paths past numerous play stations. Along the way, kids can guess animal tracks. The view of the Tyrolean Alps is particularly beautiful in this part.
If you are hungry, you can get some simple food at the forest snack bar. However, special caution is advised here, because the wooden kiosk is located directly on the road.
