That’s where the Bullerbü feeling comes in!
Stensjö by cultural reserve is located just north of Kalmar on the east coast of Sweden and is a completely preserved farm from the 18th and 19th centuries. Old varieties of grain and berries are still grown and tended here, and traditional breeds of cattle graze in the fields, along with pigs, sheep and chickens.
The Falun red dwellings, homesteads and barns with the gardens and surrounding fields are a true Bullerbü idyll and can be freely explored from the outside. There is even a small museum that tells the story of the people on this farm.
The homestead is really picturesque and very idyllic. Some scenes for “The Kids from Bullerbü” were filmed here as well.
The village can be visited all year round and some circular hiking trails lead through the adjacent woods. Our favorite circular trail, Viråslingan, takes you once around the village, past wild streams, lush blueberry bushes, the fairytale forest and past sheep pastures. Since it is only 1.3 km long and very varied, it is always a good idea even with smaller kids.
