On two wheels over Lucca’s city wall!
Making sightseeing interesting for kids is often a small challenge. This is why in Lucca, we decided to rent bikes and explore the city.
The special thing is that in Lucca you can actually bike on top of the old city wall. The view is gigantic and the wide path free of cars. Every now and then playgrounds or green meadows are on the way. The bike tour is so varied and has a highlight ready for everyone. Such as small cafes built on the city wall.
Many of the city’s landmarks can be discovered during a bicycle tour like the Cathedral of San Martino and the Guinigit Tower, which is overgrown with holm oaks and rises over 44 meters.
After the bike ride, everyone is hungry. Classic Italian pasta with no frills is available at the Trattoria da Giulio.
We rented the bikes in the bike shop La Toscana Nel Cuore. There are bicycles with child seats as well as children’s bicycles and helmets to rent. The owner Laurie knows the best routes through the city. The price for a bike is 4 euros per hour or 20 euros for the whole day.
