Hamburg, the always evolving city. Baakenpark is the latest proof. Baakenhafen is currently being built as part of Hafencity. It is not quite finished yet, but Baakenpark is. It is located between Baakenhafenbrücke and Freihafenbrücke and is a great place to go if you want to spend the weekend on the Elbe in Hamburg with your child.

Kids love the great playground with trampoline. The climbing and balancing opportunities challenge everyone to test the balance. In summer, the fountains provide some refreshment and play opportunities in the mud.

Right next to the playground there is a soccer field and a basketball area with a view over the Elbe. The huge swings make you feel like you’re almost swinging over the Elbe. And for those who like to do some workout, there is fitness equipment for adults. The tartan track at the foot of Baakenpark invites races between young and old or between runners and skaters.

If you climb up the viewing hill you get rewarded with an insanely beautiful view over the Elbe and the entire Baakenhafen. If you cross the bridge to the other side of the Elbe, you find a great promenade for skating or scootering passing the new JUFA family hotel. In front of it is a huge pirate climbing ship, which of course invites you to another round of playing. On the way back from Baakenhafen, it’s worthwhile to stop for Lemontarte cake at Café Schmidt on Große Elbstraße. What a great day in Hamburg with child!
