MOUNTAIN FARM KLAUSNERHOF IN SCHLADMING-DACHSTEIN

Farm visit and alpaca hike in Styria!

The Klausnerhof, a good 10 minutes from Schladming, is home to around 60 llamas and alpacas. Who knows the animals, knows that they carry a very special inner peace and mischievousness. For a walk you can take them out with your family. On the alpaca walk, the kids are head over heels in love with the animals from the very first second.

Half-day and full-day tours are offered for the llama and alpaca hike in Styria. With kids, the half-day tour is quite sufficient. The farmer, Florian Moosburger explains at the beginning how the llamas and alpacas on his farm are kept species-appropriate and how they are properly guided on the hike. As soon as each participant has an animal, llamas for the big ones, alpacas for the small ones, it also already goes off, first leisurely the mountain upward.

Nobody is in a hurry – least of all the animals. Again and again we stop for a breather. Perfect, because then you can really enjoy the beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. And the kids, they can’t stop adoring their companions.

After a good half an hour, the mountain hut comes into sight for the rest. Once there, the llamas and alpacas are allowed to graze first. Meanwhile, you can do a round through the former mountain farm and look at the old equipment with which the farmers ordered the fields many years ago.

For the break, a small snack in the hiking backpack is not wrong. Maybe you were there before, as we, in the artisan breakfast and still have a homemade cinnamon roll in your luggage. Tastes even better with the mountain panorama around it.

The way back is downhill and much faster. In total, you can plan about 3 hours for the visit to the farm. Of this, however, only 1 – 1.5 hours are pure (cozy) walking time.
