VISIT OUTDOOR MUSEUM GLENTLEITEN WITH CHILDREN

Playfully discover the traces of our past generations

The peasant life, as it was in the time before electricity is shown impressively in the open-air museum Glentleiten. Therefore entire farms such as alpine cottages or mills were rebuilt in the original state in the open-air museum.

The time travel into the past and getting to know the history of the homeland is particularly interesting for little ones as well as for grown ups and provides a lot to talk about for the short distances between the exhibition sites. In between, there are also some play stations for children. A playground and a super long ball track in the forest (brings with it necessarily a 50 cent coin) are a must during each visit. In the pottery children are allowed to watch pottery. In a farmhouse designed for children, the offspring can go on a little scavenger hunt through the house and get to know earlier customs and everyday life. Geese, pigs, horses and cows are at home on Glentleiten’s spacious grounds. For children there is so much to discover during the entire visit and children master so even the sometimes steep climbs to the next station.

At the weekend there is an additional (mostly free) program for all ages. These are activities such as painting clay pots, looking for a ladybug, making cheese or making herds of shepherds. On the first Sunday of Advent there is also a Christmas market. Sometimes a storyteller visits and impresses the kids with his exciting stories from the past.

In the Kramerladen and the restaurant in the main building one can also enjoy culinary with Bavarian cuisine. So you can also enjoy the great view of the Kochelsee, which is there to visit the restaurant. The restaurant in the main building is not only very nicely decorated. A small play area in the interior, as well as a playground in the outdoor area make families the visit particularly pleasant. In the entrance building, in the Kramerladen or the pottery can be purchased great handmade things and regional products. A nice souvenir or souvenir is found quickly. Time flies by and the visit brings fun for the whole family, while everyone learns neatly.

Parking is available directly in front of the main building. Glentleiten can also be visited with a stroller.
