A dream in white!
At “Welt White” will put you in a good mood, because everything is wonderfully bright and designed with a lot of white.
You do not even know where to look first. Because your eye is drawn everywhere to pretty decorative items, accessories, gifts and much more.
Very special is the selection of postcards. But to study all the brilliant sayings, you should definitely plan enough time. It is worth it.
We had the opportunity to make a Q&A session with wonderful Greta, owner of the “Welt White”:
Who is behind world white? I am Greta. I was born in Jakarta, Indonesia and at the age of 15 I went to Germany. I love to be creative. That’s why I decided to study fashion and communication graphics in Munich and then worked in fashion and graphics.
Why did you open your own store? I’ve always had a thing for nice stuff. For example, I always had little special items placed on my desk in the office. Many friends and colleagues told me that I had to open a shop. Two years and three moves later it was time and I opened “Welt white” in Schwabing in Munich.
Why did you choose Schwabing? At first, I was open to other cities. But then I decided on Munich, where I knew my way around. I like Schwabing because there is a lot going on here at any time of the day.
Where does your love for white come from? Over the years I collected different things from around the world. I realized that in almost all the color white dominated. Thus, the name for my store was born: Welt white!
How did you come up with the design of the store? I thought about it myself and then my Mom and Dad realized it with me. Flea market items are mixed with new pieces of furniture. Luckily, the store was already refurbished when I took it over so I could quickly focus on the details of the decor.
What can you find in the “Welt white”? Everything is hand picked by myself. Most of it you will hardly find anywhere else so it is special and unique. And of course, most of my stuff is white! Every month, I pick up new products. I love decorating the shop so there is always something new to discover.
Where do you get your inspiration from? All in all, I am very vigilant and discover new things all the time, everywhere. I also get a lot of inspiration on my travels. And of course, I also discover items on the internet. Since „Welt Wide“ has been in existence for almost four years, my friends know about my penchant for white. More and more often, I receive recommendations for new products from friends, When they discover something on their travels that would fit. Getting tips in this way is great and makes me especially happy.
What is the favourite product from your store? My customers love the white cuddy bunny! He is constantly sold out, although I order him so often. Many customers also come specifically for the postcards. And in the summer the jute bags with the slogans were very popular. One day even a UPS courier came in to buy one of the jute bags he had seen in the shop window as he drove by! My cups and tealights are also always very popular and are often bought as a gift.
What are your plans for the future? My dream would be to expand. There are many ideas in my mind. Let’s see what I’ll get started with first. My wish for the future is to have time for longer trips. I would like to buy direct the unusual items which I discover on my travels. Moreover, I will definitely soon have more pretty things for kids in store.
