MAJESTIC MOUNTAIN WORLD – OUR FAMILY HOLIDAY IN ZINAL

One week in the Reka holiday village Zinal!

The anticipation was huge, we were allowed to test the Reka holiday village Zinal for a week. During our arvrival, we realized what spectacular mountain scenery the picturesque mountain village of Zinal, where the Reka holiday village Zinal is located, offers. It is located at 1,680 meters above sea level in the Val d’Anniviers, surrounded by beautiful nature and surrounded by imposing four-thousand-meter peaks. From spring to autumn, well-marked trails invite you to discover the region, practically right in front of the apartment. Of course we did that and went hiking almost every day. But more on that later. In winter, it offers a snow-sure ski area and guests can ski until well into the spring or on the cross-country ski trail.

The Reka holiday village Zinal is a settlement of 5 houses with a total of 42 tastefully furnished apartments. In addition to a large, beautiful playground, there is also a pump track. You can borrow a kickboards and BMX at the reception. Also a children’s program (Rekalino) is offered, from treasure hunt about tinkering biscuits (biscuits). For the older children there is a youth room with black box, billiard and table tennis. While the children are entertained and are having fun, parents can enjoy a glass of local wine in the cozy lounge with its fireplace and reading area.

There is also a swimming pool with bubble bank and massage jets. What could be better after a hike or skiing? For the little ones there is a children’s pool with slide and lots of toys. There they are allowed to splash as much as they can. And once a week, a yoga class takes place in the morning, to start the new day with total relaxation.

On three evenings a week you can dine very well in the in-house restaurant. They offer a fondue and raclette evening, such as a burger / BBQ chat. And from Friday to Sunday you can indulge in a small but delicious breakfast buffet. Otherwise, there is a bread service. So every morning you have fresh bread for your own breakfast.

Hiking in Zinal

The absolute outdoor highlights for us were the beautiful hikes, which can be started directly from the Reka holiday village. What could be better than being in nature, surrounded by breathtaking mountain scenery.

From Sorebois to Zinal: Take the cable car to Sorebois. Once at the top, the children can use the great playground and parents can have a coffee on the terrace of the mountain restaurant before descending to Zinal in about 2 hours. An ideal family hike, not too strict for the kids and always a beautiful view of the countryside. Especially the four-thousand-meter mountains that you have all the way over are already very impressive.

From Zinal head towards Lac d’Arpitettaz: First we walk along the river Navisence. Then the path continues uphill, past a beautiful waterfall to a bridge. Again, you always have the view of the summit scenery “the Kaiserkronen”. This fascinates even the children very much and is captured figuratively. Crossing the bridge, the path now leads rocky and narrow uphill. We did not make it to the lake, our legs were getting tired. And so we took a break on a small pasture before going back to Zinal.
Round trip around the Lac de Moiry: Just 20 minutes by car from the Reka holiday village is the Lac de Moiry. From there, the varied circular walk around the beautiful Moiry reservoir begins. This is also an ideal family hike and there is a nice path along the lakeshore. In between, you can take a break on a bench and enjoy the fantastic views of the lake, the Moiry Glacier and the surrounding mountains.

Trip to Saint-Luc

At the Reka reception desk we heard about Boug & Vous Slow Up – the car-free day in Saint-Luc. In short: the road from Ayer to St. Luc is closed to motorized traffic for one day and a varied program of activities along the route is offered, from a dance competition over obstacle courses to “hit the ball through a small hole in the goal”. Also for the physical well-being is taken care of. You find fine polenta, over a glass of Pinot Noir and syrup for the children. That sounded great and we did not want to miss it. Let’s go! On foot and with the kickboard from Ayer about two hours high to Saint-Luc. Fortunately, in between, always with a break and attractions, so it felt only half as long. Arrived in Saint-Luc, we were surprised with a beautiful Valais village, nestled in the mountainside overlooking the Val d’Anniviers. Also from the playground, which we had discovered, you had a fabulous panorama.

Trip to Saint-Lac

Another village we wanted to visit is Grimentz. And so we drove in just 10 minutes by car from Zinal to Grimentz. It is a typical village par excellence and a cultural gem. In the streets decorated with geraniums, you dive into old times. For the kids there is a great playground and an even cooler pump track. So do not forget kickboard and BMX!

As you can see, the Val d’Anniviers has a lot to offer during a family holiday in Switzerland with children and for us it was a wonderful stay in the Reka holiday village Zinal.

See you soon in Switzerland,
Simone
