The fantastic mountain world in the Zillertal can be discovered perfectly with kids with a trip to the epicure mountain Ahorn in Mayrhofen. The Ahorn lift, currently known as the largest reversible aerial tramway in Austria, takes you up to an altitude of 2000 meters. With it, you can reach the hiking paradise for families in a quick and exciting way.
The Maple Round Trail starts directly at the mountain station. From the start, you have a fantastic view of the valley and the mountain landscape. The leisurely hiking trail, which is suitable for strollers, leads past vantage points and on to Ahornsee lake.
There you will find the probably most beautiful mountain playground. A play dream come true on the water keeps the children properly on their toes. While the parents relax and cool their feet in the water, the children can plunge into adventure. This includes pulling themselves across the lake on a raft, turning the water wheel as fast as possible or pumping lots of water into the small stream.
Along the loop trail, you discover interesting facts about the flora and fauna. A coincidence that could not be more fitting. The Ahornhütte serves hearty Brotzeitbrettl, spinach dumplings and other alpine dishes. As you know it from our other favorite alpine huts, the children’s dishes and the playground are not missing. On top there is a alpaca enclosure. The sweet animals can be stroked and fed in peace.
You see, the Ahornrundweg is a highlight for all families, who want to hike in the Zillertal with children. The short distances and many attractions to play and feel good make the absolute difference. Here really all family members come to enjoy. That’s what an all-around successful family time looks like.
Who the maple circuit (you can plan a total of 1 hour) is too short, can extend the hike as desired. At the mountain station, by the way, there are free trolleys to borrow.
