Arrive and feel the magic

Even the gondola ride up the mountain tells a story. Locals in Tyrol welcome visitors with warm smiles and charming tales of witches and herbs that play a special role up here. As the gondola doors open, a wide open nature playground unfolds before you. Flashing signs and plastic toys? Nowhere in sight. Instead, little feet are instantly drawn to wooden walkways, flowing streams and soft grassy meadows.

A barefoot trail winds its way through the area like a red thread, turning your first steps into Hexenwasser into a full sensory experience – from cool to tingly, soft to surprising.

An entire adventure mountain for little nature explorers

Kids feel instantly free and happy at Hexenwasser – with so many trails and activity stations, it’s like one big outdoor laboratory.

At the “Blue Wonder” water workshop, they can dive into experiments: create swirling currents, mix ink colours and feel the magical “heartbeat of water.” A few steps further, curious young scientists will find the Simonalm – where they can feed chickens, balance eggs and try their hand at pottery.

In the bee house, kids learn through play why these tiny insects matter so much – they roll their own beeswax candles and are amazed by how many busy bees live in one hive.

For those looking for a thrill, cool earth slides built into the landscape offer a fun dose of action. And older siblings? They can tackle tricky clues on the “Raven Rally,” a nature-based treasure hunt full of adventure.

Quality time for the whole family

While the kids follow their curiosity, parents finally get a chance to slow down and breathe. Scenic viewpoints invite you to pause and soak in the beauty of the Tyrolean mountains. One of the loveliest spots is the “Hexerei” – a cosy little hut scented with herbs, where dandelion tea simmers gently on the stove. Whether you take a quiet break here or dive into the herbal experiments, this place offers just as many magical moments for grown-ups as it does for kids.

And if you’re craving even more mountain air, hop on the gondola up to the Hohe Salve. At the top, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views and a hearty alpine lunch. Expect regional specialities and a surprisingly extensive wine selection.

Practical tips for your visit to Hexenwasser Söll

Hexenwasser Söll is open from May to October and is ideal for children aged roughly 3 to 12. Make sure to plan enough time to enjoy the many activity stations without rushing. Don’t forget to pack: a change of clothes (there’s water everywhere!), a towel, sunhat and a few snacks for in between. You’ll find places to eat at the Hexerei as well as on various nearby alpine pastures – all authentic, regional and seriously delicious.

A day at Hexenwasser is more than just a lovely outing in nature – it’s an invitation to experience family time with all your senses, to slow down and really feel the power of nature. It’s a memory that lasts and a reminder of how valuable intentional, shared moments can be.

If you’re looking for a family-friendly place to stay nearby – one that both kids and parents will love – you’ll feel right at home at the Leitenhof in Scheffau. Stay in beautiful wooden chalets with mountain views and enjoy relaxed family time with half board, nature at your doorstep and plenty of space to play, unwind and recharge.

Good to know: Hexenwasser Söll is part of the certified Tyrolean Summer Cable Cars – there are 27 of them across Tyrol, each offering a unique experience for families.
