Free of charge: A visit to the Blankenese Stair Quarter

Totally free is a visit to the Treppenviertel in Hamburg’s Blankenese district. Beautiful houses, steps directly on the Elbe slope and winding alleys characterize the Blankeneser Treppenviertel. The somewhat strenuous climb up the various stairs is rewarded with a sweeping view over the Elbe. The 72-meter-high Süllberg offers the opportunity to watch container ships. The staircase district comprises a total of 5,000 steps. The beach staircase alone has 170 steps. The Elbe beach invites you to various free exploration tours.

The Boberger Dunes are Hamburg’s last shifting sand dune and can be visited free of charge. Insights into the various landscape formations as well as information about animals and plants are offered by the Boberger Dünenhaus. A hike of about seven kilometers is recommended, which takes about 1.5 hours. It leads past a bathing lake and also offers the opportunity for a jump into the cool water.

The planetarium is located in the former water tower in the Winterhude district. It has an observation deck and is one of the most modern planetariums in the world.
