A retreat with a sense for design and families
Schtûbat in Andelsbuch, nestled in the beautiful region of Vorarlberg, isn’t a fresh start but a continuation — born from family stories and guided by a clear compass toward sustainability.
Host Wolfgang didn’t reinvent his parents’ house. Instead, he transformed it with sensitivity: using plenty of wood, fresh air, and even more intention. Not just a drop in the ocean, but a true example of how thoughtful architecture and stylish living can go hand in hand, naturally.
And Wolfgang? He cooks. Not because it’s written in some concept plan, but because he loves it. Anyone who eats here quickly realizes: it’s not about spectacle, but about flavor — and that good feeling when everything has its place and purpose.
Hidden in the best way
Andelsbuch in the Bregenzerwald is all about what makes the region so special: a deep connection to nature and a sense of design rooted in local craftsmanship, understated yet full of character. Schtûbat sits right in the middle of it all, yet feels wonderfully tucked away. Just a few steps to the village shop, the outdoor pool, or the little pottery studio where kids can turn clay and imagination into their own creations.
For bigger adventures, the Bregenzerwald Card is included with stays of three nights or more. It’s your little travel joker for cable cars, pools, and buses. Getting around with kids? Easy.
Living spaces with character
Between 70 and 130 square meters of space to breathe, dream, and be together. Flooded with light, filled with honest materials, clean lines, and a feeling of: this is a place where I can simply be. Balconies overlooking the greenery, open-plan kitchens made for conversation, and (for the lucky ones) even a private sauna. A temporary home that neither overwhelms nor underwhelms.
Kids
A football goal in the garden, a ping-pong room, and a playroom that doesn’t scream with color, but tells stories instead. And if you’re in the mood to head out: the outdoor pool, climbing gym, or pottery classes are just around the corner. In winter, it’s all about snow – whether on cross-country skis or walking through the crunching silence.
Breakfast & Food
Breakfast? Simply put: the daily highlight. With regional products, no plastic, and no rush. Freshly baked rolls, organic eggs, cheese from the local dairy, and homemade jam all thoughtfully arranged and ready to start the day right. There are no fixed times, no buffet crowds. Just space for early birds and late risers alike.
And sometimes, Wolfgang himself takes to the stove in the evening cooking up whatever the season has to offer. Simple, honest, and delicious.
