Aqua Terra Zoo in Vienna

You’d never guess it from the outside, but hidden inside the tall, narrow building of the Aqua Terra Zoo is a gigantic underwater world. Once you’re in, the amazement just doesn’t stop. All kinds of fish and sea creatures in every shape and color glide through enormous aquariums and water tanks. One highlight is the Atlantic Tunnel – as you walk through it, you almost feel like you’re part of the underwater world yourself. You get views here that are usually reserved for divers. The porthole into the hammerhead shark tank offers an equally fascinating glimpse. Lucky there’s a thick pane of glass between you! Reptile and amphibian fans get their money’s worth too, with a large number of snakes, turtles, and frogs. In summer, some of the turtles even live up on the warm rooftop terrace. Beyond all the marine life, there’s also the Tropical House to explore, located in the glass extension. It’s a true jungle experience, as you find yourself right in the middle of the animals, all of which roam around completely free. A visit to Haus des Meeres pairs perfectly with a stop at the playground in Esterhazypark, just a stone’s throw away.
