Sightseeing combined with Dolce Vita on a family trip to Udine!

Udine is just the right size for a one-day family trip with (small) children! Here you can sightseeing, delicious food and who wants to combine a little shopping ideal.

Central point of contact is the Piazza della Libertà in typical Venetien style. Here you can discover a lot for the children like the thick sun on the clock tower or the numerous in Veneto. Representing St. Mark’s lion with their wings. Right next to the square you can explore the pink and white striped Loggia del Lionello. Walking around the pillars or climbing the stairs that once led to the town hall makes the sightseeing with children quite entertaining.

Then you should definitely ascend to the castle. Just behind Piazza della Libertà begins a beautiful arcade. If you go through it the ascent is even in the shade. With stroller one chooses the stepless variant right next to the arcade. Once at the top, the children have great fun exploring the castle complex. Since it is car-free, they can walk around freely here without any problems.

After all the discovery, a lunch break is due. This is wonderful at the top of the Castello complex in the Casa della Contadinanza. A lovely restaurant, beautifully located and with the best Italian cuisine. The menu is very manageable and written by hand. For children, a portion of pasta or similar is prepared as desired. Here it does not bother if the children are running around in the big meadow after eating or looking for a shady place to play.

Well strengthened we recommend to visit the cathedral. It is not far from Piazza della Libertà. The short distances in Udine help make sightseeing in Udine so easy with children. The dome is clearly less obvious from the outside than from inside. Especially the beautifully designed altar and the ceiling frescoes are worth seeing!

Those who still feel like shopping are in good hands on Via Rialto and Via Mercato Vecchio. In the latter there is next to a great old-established hat shop and a typical Italian shoe store also a toy shop for the children. Of course, a delicious Italian gelato may not be missing on such a day. Not far from Piazza del Libertà, there is delicious ice cream at Luna. A day in Udine makes a wonderful dip into the Dolce Vita!
