1. Gossensass, South Tyrol
A small, often overlooked village right on the Austrian border that turns out to be a true family gem.
From here, the cable car in Ladurns takes you to playgrounds, mountain huts, and easy hiking trails.
The Edelweißhütte is a highlight with its playground and trout pond. Add to that a relaxed village center and nature right on your doorstep.
2. Dachstein Salzkammergut
Crystal-clear lakes, mystical caves, and wide alpine meadows make the region around Hallstatt a unique destination for families.
Take the cable car up to the Dachstein Krippe with its suspension bridge, ice cave, and mammoth cave.
The Grünberg also offers playgrounds, a treetop walk, and the idyllic Laudachsee – perfect for sunny summer days.
3. Lana, South Tyrol
Around Lana, you’ll find scenic Waalwege trails, charming farms, apple orchards, and inviting huts for a family stop.
The mix of Mediterranean climate and mountain views makes it perfect for relaxed family days.

4. Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis, Tyrol
Few regions in Austria are as family-friendly as this one. Adventure parks, playgrounds at over 2,000 meters, childcare, themed trails, and alpine hikes make Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis a true family favorite.
From Murmli Water to the summer toboggan run and the family coaster – boredom doesn’t stand a chance here.
5. Schladming-Dachstein, Styria
A true paradise for little explorers. On the Planai, the circular trail delights with play stations, a barefoot path, and breathtaking views all the way to the Dachstein.
Many huts feature their own play areas, and the Wilde Berg in Mautern offers animals, nature experiences, and plenty of action.

Technically reached only through Germany, but with all the charm of Tyrol: Kleinwalsertal is perfect for families with its kid-friendly hiking trails like the Burmi Water Trail, peaceful alpine huts, natural playgrounds, and a strong sense of tradition.

7. Wilder Kaiser, Tyrol
Discovering nature through play – there’s no better place than the Wilder Kaiser.
From the magical Hexenwasser in Söll to Ellmi’s Zauberwelt and the KaiserWelt adventure park – here, fun experiences meet stunning views and hearty local cuisine.
It’s also a perfect region for day trips from Munich.
8. Pfronten, Allgäu
Mountains, lakes, and plenty of adventures. In Pfronten, families can explore the Juwelenweg with its play stations, the summer toboggan run on Breitenberg, and exciting themed trails.
