SWABIAN ALB DESTINATION: BEAR CAVE

Marvel at fascinating underground parallel worlds!

Advertising – We discovered this favorite place as part of our cooperation with Tourismus Marketing GmbH Baden-Württemberg.

The bear cave in Sonnenbühl is located right next to the amusement park Traumland. With this, you will kill two popular flies among the excursion destinations of the Swabian Alb with one stone.

The well-known dripstone cave owes its name to the many bear skeletons that were found during the discovery more than 70 years ago. Already at the entrance you can feel different objects with your hands and the curiosity about the cave grows.

The emertion of the stalactite cave was more than 1.5 million years ago, but an end is not yet in sight. Even today you can watch and hear how the stalagmites and stalactites grow very slowly. A real natural miracle that is at your feet.

Natural miracle meets hunger for knowledge

Then it’s time to dive into the exciting parallel world below the earth’s surface. As soon as the eyes get used to the darkness, you recognize the forest of slactites in front of you. It’s very quiet down there and here and there you can hear how quietly a drop of water falls from the stalactites. For the kids, getting through is child’s play, but we parents have to pull our heads in here and there.

The underworld reminds a bit of holey Swiss cheese, which is staged with colorful lights. We enjoyed finding different shapes and shapes in the stalactites.

The cave length of 250 meters is short and crisp and ideal for small kids. Depending on how big your kids are and their interest in the dropstones, you can adapt the visit to your own pace.

If you are on a family holiday on the Swabian Alb and have received the AlbCard from your accommodation, the visit is free of charge for you.

Extra tip: A jacket is an important companion even in summer temperatures in the cave, because the temperatures are very fresh even then.
