Oberplunerhof in the Puster Valley: Chalet Holiday on a Farm

Where the Mountain Air Smells of Freedom and Hay

Share with family and friends

High above the valley, above Kiens, lies Oberplunerhof. Sunny, peaceful, and with wide open views across the Puster Valley, surrounded by sheep that are happy to be petted. An active farm with modern chalets and spacious apartments. For families who do not see nature as a backdrop, but as a true living space. And who value comfort, privacy, and style at the same time.
What makes this place special? The combination of authentic farming, generous privacy, and a location that allows for both retreat and an active holiday. Children move freely here among sheep and meadows, while parents sit on the terrace enjoying the mountain views. And if you are looking for extra warmth in the evening, the chalets even feature a private sauna.

Location

Oberplunerhof sits high above the valley, with sweeping views across the Puster Valley. In the morning, mist hangs like cotton between the peaks, while the village below slowly comes to life.
The hosts live here with their animals, cultivate the land, and at the same time open their doors to families who do not see nature as a backdrop, but as a true space to experience and explore.

Living

Whether chalet or apartment, you stay in bright spaces with natural materials and large window fronts that seamlessly frame the view across the valley. The generous layout of the rooms is noticeable right away. There is plenty of space for everything that travels along with children. Wet ski pants, hiking boots, backpacks, and helmets all find their place without disturbing the sense of comfort.
With the addition of the chalets and the farm shop, this living concept has been architecturally refined with consistency. The recognition with the Big See Award 2025 and the German Design Award 2026 highlights the high design standards and the attention to detail.
The units are deliberately planned with families in mind. Separate bedrooms allow for undisturbed sleep for the children, while adults can let the evening wind down in peace. At the same time, everything remains compact enough to preserve closeness and a sense of security.
The chalets extend this living experience with a private sauna that offers soothing calm after an active day, while outside the mountains slowly fade into dusk.
The apartments also impress with substance. Fully equipped kitchens provide ample tableware, cooking utensils, and workspace, making it easy to prepare meals together.
This creates a home away from home that harmoniously combines architectural quality with lived family friendliness.

Kids

What do children love here? Running across the farm in rubber boots in the morning, watching the sheep graze, maybe helping with the feeding. There are corners to hide in, meadows to race across, and a playground with a panoramic view instead of plastic scenery.
Nothing flashes, nothing beeps, and yet it never feels boring. Instead of organized entertainment, there are real experiences: observing animals, discovering beetles, building small dams in the stream. In the evening, everyone gathers around the fire pit while the sun sinks behind the peaks. These are moments you cannot book, only truly experience.

Regional Delights During a Chalet Holiday on the Farm

Many families appreciate the independence of self catering, and the kitchens are perfectly designed for exactly that. At the same time, there are farm products available: fresh milk, eggs, and homemade specialties depending on the season. In the morning, crispy bread rolls are delivered to your door, accompanied by regional apple juice or perhaps even a full breakfast package. The choice is yours.
You cook together, set the table, and look out over the landscape while doing so. Food is not staged here, it is simply lived. Honest, uncomplicated, and good.

Adventure Right Outside the Door

In winter, the nearby Kronplatz draws visitors with perfectly groomed slopes. In about 15 minutes, you are right in the middle of the skiing action and return in the evening to the peaceful setting above the valley.
During the warmer months, hiking trails start directly at your doorstep. Alpine hut hikes, mountain bike tours, or relaxed walks with a picnic blanket. A special highlight is the surrounding alpine pasture landscape, where children count cows and parents can hardly take their eyes off the view. The Dolomites feel close enough to touch here, without ever being overwhelming.
