We can’t find enough beautiful words to express how much we love this new insider tip in the Merano area. A realm that enchants all the senses and blends wine, garden, art and cuisine in a harmonious round dance.

The history of the Kränzelhof is as fascinating as its appearance. Once a medieval farmstead surrounded by the rolling hills of the South Tyrolean vineyards, today it shines in new splendour. The seven gardens are a true masterpiece of nature and human creativity.

Our perfect day at the Kränzelhof begins with a delicious lunch in the ESSBAR – a place where dishes are created that not only tantalise the palate, but also the soul. The menu includes a handful of seasonal delicacies, such as pasta with asparagus à la carbonara in our case, made with locally sourced ingredients. You can also try the Kränzelhof’s certified organic wines, which are produced with passion. If you are looking for something special, you should definitely visit the miil restaurant, which also belongs to the Kränzelhof.

Winery with art garden

After the delicious meal, we go to the seven gardens of the Kränzlhof, where art and plant elements appeal to all the senses. The 2-hectare garden is beautifully landscaped and radiates a pleasant peace. While we stroll comfortably along the extensive paths dedicated to topics such as love and trust, the children are already full of anticipation of the labyrinth. After we walked around corners and through one or the other wrong path, we finally all get to the amphitheater, where we listen to the birds in fascination. If you want, you can also take a little something to eat or drink – preferably a wine from the vinotheque of the Kränzelhof, with you to the garden and look for a picnic place there.

So pack your loved ones and go to the Kränzelhof – a pearl on which time seems to stand still and every moment is a feast for the senses. So beautiful that there are such places for families. It is best to combine the visit with a short walk from the Hotel Schwarzschmied or stop by after the tour through the Obstbaummuseum.

The Kränzelhof can also be found on the brand new discovery map for families in the region. Here you can discover even more hidden treasures that will immerse you in the depths of the region.
