Water is a magical attraction for children. You see it best while hiking to the Josefstaler waterfalls close to Schliersee.

The waterfalls cannot be compared to Niagara Falls, but a 12 meter high waterfall makes a good impression. The first waterfall can be reached after a short 15 minutes walk. If you want, you can climb the last few meters to the waterfall. The water ripples into a large, not very deep pool and the children can immediately test how warm or bitterly cold the water is.

Continue the trail into the woods. After a short distance you reach the picnic area, which is already part of the Stockeralm (they don’t offer food). The greatest fun for the children is to play in the shallow stream, stick your feet in and enjoy a little picnic.

From there you can continue the circular route or walk along the stream back to the parking lot. There is no parking lot for hikers, but there is enough parking space on Josefstaler Straße.

After the hike, there is still enough time to spend the day on the Schliersee or to stop for a delicious lunch at Stögeralm.
