Long runs and relaxed family time on Reiteralm
Sponsored
Reiteralm is the quiet counterpoint to the livelier ski mountains in the region. Anyone skiing here quickly notices that everything feels a little more relaxed. The slopes are long, easy to read and often surprisingly uncrowded โ which is exactly why Reiteralm becomes a favourite for so many families.
Plenty of space and long runs
Reiteralm offers runs that seem almost endless, making them especially well suited for families. At some point, we realised that we were stopping far less often here โ less regrouping, less waiting. Instead, you can simply ski all the way down in one smooth flow.

Why international teams train here
Did you know? Reiteralm is regularly used as a training mountain by international ski teams. You notice it straight away. The runs are consistently well groomed, grippy and reliable โ whether youโre skiing at an easy pace or taking things a little more sportily.
Playful highlights for kids on Reiteralm
Even though Reiteralm is generally a quieter mountain, children are never bored here. One particular favourite is the SkiMovie slalom, where each run is recorded on video. A friendly race between siblings or friends quickly turns into a memorable experience.
The Kids Cool Running track challenges courage, technique and a good sense of speed. In a playful way, children push their limits here โ without it ever feeling like training. Those looking for even more action can head to the cross park, with its banked turns, waves and jumps, complete with real racing vibes.

Tips beyond the slopes
If youโd like to spend your winter holiday in Schladming-Dachstein doing more than just skiing, there are plenty of small experiences around Reiteralm that make a stay here truly special. One real highlight is night tobogganing on Hochwurzen. Heading out together in the evening, racing down the mountain under floodlights and then falling into bed happily tired are moments that tend to stay with you for a long time.
On days when everyone needs a break from skiing, we love heading to the Waldhรคuslalm. Itโs a place to slow down and breathe, with good food and a small petting zoo for the kids.
For an especially lovely place to stay, we recommend the Hotel Matschner in Ramsau am Dachstein. Cross-country skiers, in particular, will feel right at home here, with trails starting directly outside the door. For families, itโs a wonderful complement to ski days โ quieter, with a very different winter rhythm. Good to know: the hotel is connected to the Dachstein Bad via an underground tunnel, where youโll find a large swimming pool, saunas and a dedicated toddler area.
