Family holiday with heart and soul in the Puster Valley
Martin and Veronika Egger have succeeded in bringing a piece of South Tyrolean history into the present – and in doing so, have consciously created an oasis for families. The Eggerhof, owned by the family since 1930, is located in a historic building complex that has existed since 1511. Lovingly renovated, it now combines traditional farmhouse charm with state-of-the-art sustainability. Here, free-roaming animals happily move about the yard, while Japandi design with its clear aesthetics and cozy accents creates a harmonious atmosphere. Veronika is not only an herb educator but also the soul of the house, ensuring that guests feel completely at home with great attention to detail. And Martin, who runs the farm, enthusiastically introduces both young and old to the world of farming.
What emerged: O’Mama Family Time at Eggerhof – a place where freedom, serenity, and pure family happiness are palpable. After just a few hours, you can feel it: Here, you can truly be yourself – no matter your age.
Location
Mühlbach, the charming gateway to the Pustertal, is the perfect starting point for trips to the mountains or for exploring the South Tyrolean nature. The car? It can stay put. The train station is just a stone’s throw away, and the surrounding area can be wonderfully explored on foot, by bike, or by public transport, which is even free with the guest card.
Farm
The soul of the farm can be felt everywhere: in the lovingly renovated living lounge with a fireplace and cozy corner, in the clean design lines, and on the rooftop terrace with a private sauna and hot tub. Here, it’s not just about sleeping over, it’s about living – cozy, authentic, and with a touch of comfort. For children, there’s hardly anything better than having the freedom to run around: walking barefoot across the meadow, digging in the earth, or watching the animals in awe. On the farm, cows, rabbits, and chickens enjoy the freedom to roam in their spacious stalls and free-range enclosures – a wonderful opportunity to get close and personal with them. Nature becomes the biggest playground, without any elaborate entertainment. Spaces inspired by Maria Montessori’s educational principles give little guests the chance to discover new things, get properly dirty, and most importantly, just be themselves.
Rooms
The seven rooms at Eggerhof are small retreats for every family configuration. Every detail is carefully thought out: from the cozy beds with high-quality materials to the clever storage spaces that offer enough room for the essentials of a family holiday. What’s especially charming: each room has its own area for children, equipped with flexible furniture perfectly tailored to their needs – whether for toddlers or older adventurers. And for those without children, the area can easily be used as an additional lounge. The separate toilets and thoughtful amenities make the stay especially comfortable.
For the Kids
For children, Eggerhof is a land of adventure: in the MatschWelt, they can splash around, in the WaldWelt they can romp and climb, and in the TierWelt, rabbits, goats, and chickens are waiting to be petted. For those who prefer a quieter time, the KreativWelt offers space for painting and crafting, while older kids can relax to music in the ChillBox.
