Admire a historic Roman building!
If you visit Nimes, you can not miss a visit to the Pont du Garde. The World Heritage from the 1st century is a Roman aqueduct with 3 levels.
The entrance fee of 9.50 Euro for adults (children are free) is definitely worth it. Culture spaces with interesting exhibits around the bridge and a hiking trail of the Mémoires de Garrigue were built around the Roman heritage. If you want, you can spend the whole day on site. Even a restaurant and a kiosk are available.
The way to the bridge is short. For a perfect picture spot, we climbed down to the right of the aqueduct to the river. There we were rewarded not only with a nice view, but there are also numerous play opportunities for children. A small hidden cave, interesting stones and anyway the water, attract little people magically. This place is ideal for a picnic break.
Parking is free. The travel time of Nimes is about 30 minutes. For the trip you definitely need a car.
