Family trip to the Maldives of Bavaria!
Anyone who visits the Eibsee gets one thing above all: a magnificent view! With the Zugspitze and a great mountain panorama in view and the turquoise-blue water, holiday feelings arise directly. It is not for nothing that the Eibsee is also called the Maldives in Bavaria.
The best way to start the hike with the children around the Eibsee is from the car park of the Zugspitze cable car. From there, follow the signs to the lake, where the tour begins. Many guidebooks recommend walking counterclockwise around the lake, as the view of the Zugspitze is particularly magnificent. We decided to go the other way so that we could walk in the warm midday sun for a long time. Almost the entire hike has the highest mountain in Germany in view. No matter which side you start from.
The loop trail is 7.7 km long. This is a good length for a family hike and with small stops on the water and in the woods even the little ones can make it. By the way, in summer it is advisable to bring your bathing suit and a picnic. The children have a lot of fun cooling off in the cold mountain lake and the sun can be enjoyed on the small beaches.
The Eibsee Alm with a playground is a great place to stop after the hike. Another option is the Eibsee Pavilion with a direct view of the water and an extra children’s menu. Both are close to the parking lot. You can end the day nicely there.
If you want, you can take a small boat tour across the lake. For 12 euros an hour there is a nice pedal boat to sail across the lake. Fun factor for the children is guaranteed.
