KUNSTLABOR 2 in Munich: Creative Spaces for Imagination & Families

A House Full of Doors to Other Worlds

Share with family and friends

From the outside, the former health center on Dachauer Straße looks almost unremarkable. But the moment you step into KUNSTLABOR 2, you realize: different rules apply here.
Run by the MUCA, the Museum of Urban and Contemporary Art, KUNSTLABOR 2 is a cultural hub with a wide-ranging program. While MUCA in the city center serves as the main stage for urban art, KUNSTLABOR 2 presents itself as an experimental playground where artists can freely unfold their ideas and visitors are invited to step right into them. It’s not a museum in the traditional sense, but a house that opens spaces, unleashes imagination, and invites us to see the world through different eyes—if only for a moment.

Special Exhibition Seth’s SPIEL(T)RÄUME until 15.02.26

The current special exhibition *Seth’s SPIEL(T)RÄUME* by French street artist Seth at KUNSTLABOR 2 is designed for everyone from age 3 to 103. Children delight in the colors, shapes, and treasure hunt. In one of the rooms, a few Bobby Cars and little ride-on vehicles are waiting for them to zoom through the cityscape. And adults, too, can awaken their inner child for a while and simply go with the flow.

A Family Place that Inspires

Even beyond the special exhibition, Kunstlabor is well worth a visit for families. Around 60 rooms have been designed by international artists, many of them interactive and playfully surprising. Creative workshops such as graffiti or stencil courses are available from about age eight, giving children the chance to pick up a spray can or paintbrush themselves. In summer, the spacious outdoor area invites you in with façade art, urban gardening, and food stalls.
A visit here shows that art can be playful, lighthearted, and full of surprises—and that’s exactly why it stays with you.

Family Tours at KUNSTLABOR 2

Seth’s *SPIEL(T)RÄUME* becomes truly exciting on a family tour. Together with the guides, you’ll explore the colorful installations, paintings, and sculptures. Everything is explained in a way that’s easy for children to understand, told with plenty of stories, and full of opportunities to ask questions.
Birthday kids are also in the best hands at KUNSTLABOR 2. Between Bobby Cars, walls bursting with color, and creative workshops, a simple party turns into a celebration of imagination, where young guests become artists themselves.
And for those who want even more art, the MUCA offers additional family tours—currently including the exhibition Vhils – Strata.
