Junior Rangers on an Exploration Tour – Little Explorers, Big Adventures
This post was created in collaboration with the Ammergau Alps Nature Park.
Feeling like some nature, adventure, and a holiday week full of real experiences and new encounters? In the summer holiday program Junior Rangers on an Exploration Tour in the Ammergau Alps Nature Park, children aged 6 to 9 will experience nature just as it truly is: wild, lively, and beautiful. A summer holiday program in nature that we wish we could experience again as kids ourselves.
Walking barefoot through the moor, using a magnifying glass to track clues – and always by their side: Warzi, the curious grasshopper mascot. While the children discover the secrets of the forest, moor, meadow and mountain stream with open hands, keen senses, and a huge amount of curiosity, something even more unforgettable happens along the way: true community, playful learning in nature, and finally answers to all those questions about animals, plants, and environmental protection that have been swirling around in their minds. Because here, trained nature and environmental educators explain in a fun, engaging, and age-appropriate way what really happens in nature.
Meanwhile, parents have space to breathe – with mountain views, scenic hiking trails, or a relaxed workation base right in the Ammergau Alps, one of the most beautiful natural regions in Bavaria.
What many don’t know: The Ammergau Alps are among the most biodiverse nature parks in Germany – with wild river landscapes, mossy moors, and flowering meadows that are now rare to find.
Backpack on – and dive into the nature adventure!
“Junior Ranger on Discovery Tour” is the lovingly designed holiday program in the Nature Park Ammergau Alps, taking place from July 28 to August 22, 2025, every Monday to Friday from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Included: trained leisure and environmental educators, who don’t lecture but accompany the children with care and real knowledge – curious, attentive, and always on eye level.
The day starts relaxed: pretzel, fruit, sun cap, and research materials – all provided with care by the holiday program. Add a little laughter, chatting, and first explorer plans – and the day begins. Parents? They can lean back and relax.
What makes the week special is the atmosphere: lots of fresh air, even more good vibes, and the feeling of being exactly where you’re meant to be. It’s about wondering, experimenting, collecting, and observing – with an open eye for everything that crawls, flies, grows, and lives. A holiday time filled with curiosity, connection to nature, and a true sense of community.
And when everyone returns in the afternoon, it’s clear: something exciting happened. Bright eyes, a rustling leaf in the pocket – and maybe a bit of forest still stuck on their hands. That’s what holiday happiness feels like.
Great experiences for little money at the nature holiday program
The best part: If you book at least five nights in the Ammergau Alps through the tourism association’s website, you can experience the nature adventure for free. For everyone else, the daily price is 19 euros – including a small lunch package, materials, and lots of nature happiness.
A summer offer that doesn’t sound like childcare, but rather like freedom, friendship, and real childhood.
And it shows: Those who run through the forest and meadows with bright eyes don’t need Wi-Fi.
And what about the adults?
While the little ones wander through the underbrush on the nature holiday program, the adults can enjoy full summer happiness: Hiking on Laber, Pürschling, or Hörnle, E-bike or gravel bike tours with Alpine views, the RadKulTour with regional delicacies – or simply a cappuccino on the sun terrace with a view of the valley.
Want to be more active? Then head up to the Kolbensattel – and zoom back down on the summer toboggan run. Culture lovers can discover Oberammergau’s craftsmanship, theater, and living history – or take a stroll through the magnificent Linderhof Palace and its fairy-tale gardens.
Or just let yourself be carried away – through small villages, along blooming meadows with a constant view of the mountains. Because that’s also what a holiday in the Ammergau Alps is about: a bit of everything and plenty of time for the essentials.

Ganz entspannt.
Just weather-appropriate clothing, a snack for the break, and curiosity. Everything else is included in the program. There are small lunch packages, but keep in mind that activity makes you hungry. 😉
The program is for children between 6 and 9 years old.
Experienced leisure and environmental educators who guide the children through the day with a lot of heart and a keen sense of their needs.
The kids are out and about, collecting nature knowledge and new favorite moments – and you finally have some time for yourself. A summer program that doesn’t feel like childcare, but like freedom, vacation vibes, and really good stories that will be told for a long time after.
We recommend “Junior Ranger on Discovery Tour” because we believe: Kids need more time outdoors, less screen time – and memories that will last for a long time.
