Central Switzerland is full of little adventures. Around the Reka Holiday Village Sörenberg, moors, mountains, and sweet temptations are waiting to be explored by families in playful and delicious ways. We’ve gathered the best excursions with children that you can reach in just a few minutes.

Mooraculum Rossweid: Exploring the Moor through Play

Just a gondola ride away lies Rossweid, home to the Mooraculum, which fascinates children and adults alike. On Switzerland’s largest adventure playground dedicated to moors, you’ll find water swings, climbing stations, hanging chairs and picnic spots.
If you like, you can hike the Sundew Trail (easy, suitable for strollers and younger kids) or the Great Moor Circular Trail (approx. 4.5 km, about 1h15). The interactive stations are especially engaging, bringing the mysterious moorland to life in playful ways. With a researcher’s box, available at the valley station, kids solve tricky riddles, create small moor-inspired artworks, and at the moor telephone learn why the sundew is carnivorous or how the capercaillie lives here.
Tip: Bringing a picnic is well worth it, as there are plenty of idyllic spots along the trails with views of the moor landscape. For something simpler, the Rossweid mountain inn right by the playground offers a cozy self-service area with snacks, hot meals and drinks.

Brienzer Rothorn: Reaching New Heights with Kids

Another highlight is the ride on the new mountain railway to the Brienzer Rothorn. The free exhibition at the top about the construction of the railway is short, child-friendly, and shows just what an engineering achievement it was.
At the summit, a breathtaking panorama awaits. From here, the view stretches across Central Switzerland to the Bernese Alps, and on clear days even as far as the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. If you like, you can climb the final meters up to the summit cross or try the sunrise ride with breakfast.
For us, the hike to Eisee was a true highlight in nature. Around the Brienzer Rothorn, steep rock faces and rugged ridges give way to gentle alpine meadows. The trail takes about 40 minutes, passing cow pastures and accompanied by the soft chime of cowbells. At the hut right by the lake, you’ll find freshly caught trout, rösti, or cheese fondue made with ingredients from the UNESCO Entlebuch Biosphere. The return to the mountain station is almost effortless with the chairlift.

Kambly Experience World: Tasting and Baking Cookies

About 30 minutes from Sörenberg lies a paradise for little sweet tooths: the Kambly Experience World. Here, families can not only sample every variety of cookie but also take a behind-the-scenes look at this long-standing brand.
Kids especially love the workshops in the baking studio, where they can get creative and bake their own cookies. Meanwhile, parents can watch as tarts, macarons, or pralines are made in the show kitchen. Treasure hunts through the village and to the local dairy are also part of the program, highlighting Kambly’s focus on regionality and quality.
Tip: The workshops take place every Wednesday and Friday and are very popular, so it’s best to book in advance. On rainy days, Kambly Experience World is the perfect alternative to an outdoor program.

Rischli Toboggan Run: Fast-Paced Fun

A perfect afternoon highlight is the Rischli summer toboggan run. For CHF 6, you’re pulled comfortably up by lift to the starting point before racing down the mountain on small bobsleds. Over 900 meters and twelve curves, the track winds through alpine meadows — everyone sets their own pace, turning the ride into a family moment filled with laughter and a touch of adrenaline.
Good to know: Children from 3 years can join but must ride with an adult. Kids up to 8 years ride free, also only accompanied by an adult.
