A shady forest trail that’s just right for little explorers. Roots to balance on, streams to peer into, mini climbing spots instead of a boring path. And at the end? A real South Tyrolean alpine hut with a view, a little playhouse, and honest, hearty food.

The Allriss Alm in the Pflersch Valley is perfect for families who want to hike in the mountains without the crowds or endless elevation gain. The trail goes up gently, comes down easily, and in between you’ll find these peaceful “windows to the landscape” that make you pause, take a breath, and soak in the view.

Time to hike!

The trail starts in Innerpflersch, right at the small parking lot by the “Haus der Vereine.” This is where everyone tightens their hiking boots and shoulders their backpacks. The wide forest road heads uphill from the start, easy to walk and perfect if you’re short on time or just want a straightforward route.
But it gets even better if you switch to the narrow forest trail shortly after the start. It’s more exciting, more varied, and quickly becomes the kids’ favorite. Small steps, roots to navigate, occasional views into the valley—and a little pond along the way that makes for the perfect snack break spot.

Arriving at the Alm: Wood, mountain views, and a playhouse

After about an hour of hiking, the Allriss Alm comes into view. A classic South Tyrolean mountain hut with a veranda, sweeping views, and plenty of space to breathe. If you listen closely, you might hear the sheep and goats grazing in the meadow below.
What’s waiting for you up here? A sunny terrace with a view of the Pflerscher Tribulaun and a small playground right next to it.

South Tyrol on a plate

The food here is down-to-earth and seriously good. You’ll find dumplings, seasonal game dishes—and local ice cream like walnut-caramel that never leaves leftovers.
Kids love ordering the ultimate South Tyrolean comfort food: Hirtenmacaroni. It’s a simple but tasty pasta dish with a tomato, mushroom, and sausage sauce. And honestly, with that mountain view, everything tastes unbeatable.

Looking for more beautiful alpine hikes in South Tyrol? You’ll find them here.

The way back follows the wide forest road. The kids chat about their favorite spots along the trail, try their hand at whittling, and maybe a special stone finds its way into someone’s backpack. A small but wonderful hike in South Tyrol—just the right thing for a warm day.
