The Bienenweg starts at the Neubichler Alm and extends over a pleasant distance of 2.5 km, which can be covered in about an hour. The route is relatively flat, which makes it ideal for little hikers. The last stretch to the Johannes Hügel is a bit steeper, but it’s totally worth it for the amazing view of the surrounding area. You can even look up to Salzburg!
Get ready to dive into the fascinating world of bees!
Along the way, you’ll have the chance to explore various stations and discover more about the amazing way of life of honey bees and wild bees. It’s incredible to think that around 80% of our native crops and wild plants depend on pollination by bees! These small animals are not only essential for nature, but also for our food. The bee trail in Piding offers you the chance to experience the amazing interaction between humans and bees up close.
At the stations along the Piding Bee Trail, kids can observe how bees collect nectar and pollinate flowers. It is impressive to see how these industrious ‘workers’ operate in their natural habitat. The trail not only offers educational information, but also the opportunity to enjoy the scents and colours of the flowers in the bee garden.
After the hike, a visit to the Johannishögl mountain inn is an absolute must. Here, families can take a well-earned break and indulge in delicious cakes or regional specialities. You can discover even more great hikes in Berchtesgaden with kids here.
