We were picking mushrooms for the first time this summer. The trip with our children was a very special experience! It already begins the day before about the joy of the rain. Because it favours the growth of the mushrooms especially well. When else do you enjoy the rain? It is best to start early in the morning. It depends on the right equipment. Long trousers, long-sleeved shirt and cap on the head must be. Rubber boots for ladies, gentlemen and kids belong on the feet. If the rain should continue, rain jacket and trousers are also in demand.
The first thing to do is to find the right place with mushrooms. Unlike usual, the hiking trails are abandoned and you enter the middle of the forest. Sometimes you are lucky and find the right spot right away, sometimes patience is put to the test if only here and there mushrooms appear. Once you have found the right place, you can start to identify the mushrooms. The best way to do this is to have a mushroom book with you in order to distinguish the dangerous from the edible mushrooms. What a joy if the mushroom turns out to be harmless! Carefully it is put on a cloth in the basket and it goes on.
In the best case so many mushrooms come together that it is enough for a wonderful family meal. We especially appreciate noodles with mushrooms and a fresh salad for young and old. The food is quickly conjured up on the table without much effort, even if a certain tiredness from the excursion is already spreading. Not least because the mushrooms are picked themselves, the food tastes incomparably good!
In the forest the children will find all kinds of mushrooms and other treasures. Our dear friends of Mami.Connection have told us what they love to do with twigs, leaves and the like with their children.
