This tour is made for all those who want to experience the Allgäu from its most beautiful side in just a few kilometers. Mountain views, wide meadows and cows are guaranteed on the hiking trail to the Iller suspension bridge.

The hike starts at the hiking parking lot Legau Unterau. From there, you take the only path far and wide and start walking in the immediate vicinity of the Iller. First it goes on the forest road high into the forest. As soon as you leave the forest, you find beehives and the first hunter stands. There are supposed to be seven in all. This is fun for the kids to count them and even climb up into some.

Soon the Maierhof comes into view. An absolutely idyllic picture book farm. Cows graze in the pasture and in the background you can see the mountain peaks of the Alps. So picturesque we have imagined the Allgäu.

Further it goes the signposting after Fischen. In the wooded area, you can catch a glimpse of the Illerschleife. The sound of the river becomes louder and louder and soon the suspension bridge becomes visible.

Over the bridge, built by volunteers, you cross the Iller and find yourself on a meadow with picnic benches. Here you can fortify yourself while the children can play by the water.

After an extensive picnic break, you return the same way to the parking lot. In total, the tour has a length of 8 km. In our favorite accommodation d’Kammer in Illerbeuern there is a Bollerwagen, which you can borrow for your kids.

By the way, we had the Waldentdecker Karten with us, a search game for little explorers. Kids pick some cards and have the task to find the corresponding items on the hike. This is a super entertainment, for a little sagging or for the break. With us, for the card “something beautiful” was made without further ado a wonderful clover blossom bracelet.
