Before you start, grab a free activity booklet at the valley station – then you’ll be part of either Team Smuggler or Border Guard.

3. Loop around Lake Schliersee with forest discovery trail
This trail shows off Lake Schliersee at its very best: relaxed, varied, and always with a view of the water. The forest discovery path invites kids to connect with nature through play, while the barefoot path brings giggles and grins. At the end, a huge lakeside playground is waiting – the perfect reward. It’s the ideal mix of activity, rest, and a favourite view.
Another bonus: Schliersee is easy to reach by public transport.
4. Partnach Gorge and Eckbauer

6. Zauberwald and Lake Hintersee – a fairytale landscape in Berchtesgaden
Fairytale forests really do exist. At least that’s how it feels when you walk through the Zauberwald with kids near Berchtesgaden. Moss-covered rocks, sparkling streams, crystal-clear water – and endless chances to build little dams or skip stones across the lake.
