Vienna is like Paris, only without Parisians! 😉
We love Vienna. Vienna is a traditional but modern city at the same time. Little shops, delicious restaurants from chic to home-style and historic buildings are behind every corner. In addition, Vienna is extremely child-friendly. The city places special value on it and also invests accordingly. There are countless children’s playgrounds, restaurants with a small play area and even children’s museums.
We start our favourite day in Vienna very comfortably with a breakfast in the Hotel Altstadt. Not only is it nice to live there, the hotel also offers a daily breakfast buffet for between € 25 and 11 (on weekends until 11:30). For children there is no big play area, but some toys!
First stop of the day is the city center. We stroll through the beautiful streets and dive into the flair of Vienna. Next to sightseeing we can’t resist the unique shops around. If we need clothes for the kids, we like to visit Soova. There are colorful children’s clothing made from organic cotton.
Strengthened with a freshly squeezed juice, we make our way to Schönbrunn Palace. There we spend a two hours in the children’s museum and have a lot of fun. If the children prefer to dive into the magic underwater world, we also like to go to the Haus des Meeres.
We like go around the city by tram and if we are lucky, we catch one of the old models. This is an experience for children, but for us parents it means pulling the stroller up the stairs to the tram.
For lunch we drive the few stops back to the centre and enjoy a delicious menu at Palmenhaus. The children get crayons to paint. Afterwards we rest in the adjacent castle garden. Meanwhile, the children play in the countryside.
Those looking for a kid-friendly restaurant coming with an indoor playground try YAMM.
The afternoon will be tackled comfortably on a playground. The playground in the Rathauspark is particularly suitable for this! In the middle of the city, a nice cafe around the corner and surrounded by greenery. From there we walk across the Volksgarten back towards the city center. In Summer, there are a lot of different types of roses to smell.
In the city center, we then make the obligatory stop in the Café Sacher. The chocolate cake is melting in our mouth. Actually, we would all like to have a rest and go back to the Hotel Altstadt Vienna, which is the best starting point for families in Vienna due to its central location.
With a lot of energy we start another round through the beautiful Vienna. For dinner we like to visit the Restaurant Ulrich, NENI at Tel Aviv Beach or go outside the city to Mayer am Nussberg. There is not only a playground waiting for the children, but also good wine for the parents!
